Garage door repair costs — guidance, not a quote

Garage door work is priced once the door, springs, tracks and opener are known. These factors move the cost up or down.

What drives the cost

  • Type of job: a spring or cable replacement, a roller or sectional repair, an opener fault, or a new door.
  • Door type and size: single, double, roller or sectional.
  • Parts: springs matched to door weight, cables, guides, weather seals and openers.
  • Whether safety beams, remotes or wall controls need repair or replacement.
  • Access and strata approval when the door is in a shared garage.
  • Time of day: after-hours and weekend call-outs versus scheduled daytime work.

Ask before work starts

A clear quote before any work begins is normal — including the call-out charge, labour and parts. If the price on arrival is very different from what you were told on the phone, you can say no before any work starts.

Why there is no price list here

Two broken springs that look alike can need different spring wire sizes and drum hardware, so any fixed price would be guesswork. Official safety and building guidance is linked below.
